APPLICATION OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TO CONTROL THE MOVEMENT OF SHIPS THROUGH A LOCK

Optimum control algorithm of locking ships is presented. Ship or cargo idleness minimum criteria are used for lock control and ship pass problem. Communications between computer system of the lock and AIS of the ships near the lock are described in details. Optimum scheduling concept is developed depending on ships traffic flow rate. Ships priorities take into account during locking ships scheduling. Computer and human locking ships schedules are compared.
