This study focuses on formalizing the problem of developing methods and techniques for proactive and adaptive management of the pump fleet of an oil pumping station to improve operational efficiency while minimizing failures of mainline pump units, as well as reducing the number of instances where pumping is halted in the process section of the main pipeline due to the station’s inability to maintain the required number of units in operational condition. The development of such methods involves the use of classical approaches to historical data processing, aimed at analyzing efficiency and processing real-time telemetry data. However, this approach reduces control efficiency due to the limited time interval of the analysis and also fails to generate a resulting control action oriented toward the operational use of technical condition assessment results. The study defines performance criteria for the methods and techniques being developed for proactive and adaptive control of the pump fleet. A structural diagram for controlling the pump fleet of an oil pumping station has been developed. The formalized problem enables the subsequent implementation of methods and techniques aimed at a comprehensive analysis of historical and operational data for managing the pump fleet in operational loops, in automatic reserve activation systems as part of safety measures, and in the development of maintenance and repair schedules.
