        <p>В работе рассматривается выбор высоты установки камеры и стратегии сопровождения пешеходов – по ограничивающим прямоугольникам тела или головы – в зависимости от плотности потока. Высота установки и наблюдаемая часть тела при заданной плотности потока во многом задают окклюзию в кадре и тем самым ограничивают достижимое качество многообъектного сопровождения еще до выбора алгоритма. Качество измеряется интегральной метрикой сопровождения высшего порядка, а для каждой стратегии оценивается минимальная высота установки, при которой это качество достигает заданного уровня. Оценка выполнена на синтетических видеопоследовательностях, которые воспроизводят реальный пешеходный поток при управляемой геометрии съемки, недостижимой на натурных записях с заранее заданным ракурсом. Вычислительный эксперимент охватывает шесть высот установки от 2 до 12 м и диапазон плотности от свободного движения до плотного потока. Для сопровождения по телам требуемая высота монотонно растет с плотностью и в плотных режимах выходит за практический предел, тогда как сопровождение по головам обеспечивает то же качество на высоте не более 6 м. Полученная зависимость применима на этапе проектирования систем видеонаблюдения для согласования высоты установки и стратегии наблюдения с ожидаемой плотностью потока.</p>

      <trans-abstract xml:lang="en">
        <p>The choice of camera mounting height and pedestrian tracking strategy – by body or head bounding boxes – is examined as a function of flow density. The mounting height and the observed body part govern mutual occlusions in the image and thereby cap the achievable quality of multi-object tracking before any tracker is chosen. Quality is measured by an integral higher-order tracking metric, and for each strategy the minimum mounting height at which this quality reaches a target level is estimated. The estimation uses synthetic video sequences that reproduce a real pedestrian flow under controllable acquisition geometry that is unattainable in field recordings with a predetermined viewpoint. The computational experiment spans six mounting heights from 2 to 12 m and a density range from free flow to dense flow. For body tracking the required height grows monotonically with density and exceeds the practical limit in dense regimes, whereas head tracking attains the same quality at a height of no more than 6 m. The obtained dependence is applicable at the design stage of video surveillance systems for matching the mounting height and observation strategy to the expected pedestrian flow density.</p>
